Things You Need To Know
  • Apartment complexes will check the following information to qualify applications for you and your co-signer: rental/mortgage, credit, employment & criminal history. It is very important that you let me know if there is any concern in these areas.

  • Rental applications are sent in when you have decided on an apartment with your money for deposit & application fees, made payable to the apartment complex where you are leasing.

  • The ideal time rame to lease an apartment is 30-45 days prior to your move in date. Normally, apartments are not held longer than 30 days.

  • However, waiting until you arrive for orientation to find an apartment can result in hotel stays, at your expense. It usually takes anywhere from 3-5 days to process an application.

  • You will need to have the Electric Service put into your name. This must be done prior to your move in date.

  • Apartments will come with "standard" appliances such as stove, dishwasher, disposal, refrigerator, a/c and heat. Washer and dryer connections are an option when leasing an apartment. Select floor plans have machines included. Apartments are not furnished.

  • The lease terms for the apartments are generally 6 or 12 months. Select properties require a 7 or 13-month lease.

  • If you need a roommate make sure that you’re UTI Representative, the Housing Department at UTI and the Apartment Store is aware of this. The Apartment Store keeps a list of students who are looking for roommates.

  • As a standard policy at The Apartment Store, we suggest that you consider your options for obtaining renter's insurance when leasing an apartment. In addition to this, contact the Harris County Sheriff's Office to obtain activity reports for the apartment communities.

  • The Referred Housing program has been a very successful means of placing students in stable, independent living environments. With a wide variety of properties and roommates to choose from. Apartments are conveniently located near the UTI campus and parents of students going into Referred Housing are very involved in the leasing process and decisions.
